About Us

The Women's Directorate became a department of the Yukon Government in 1985. The Minister Responsible for the Women's Directorate is the Honourable Elaine Taylor, who is also the Minister of Community Services, Public Service Commission and French Language Services Directorate. The Directorate is responsible for ensuring that gender considerations are integrated into all aspects of government policy-making, legislation and program development.

The Women’s Directorate:

Ensures gender considerations are integrated into all aspects of Yukon government policy-making, legislation and program development;
Offers a range of public education materials on women’s equality, health and violence prevention;
Provides funding support to groups and initiatives that enhance women’s equality and security.

We work closely with a network of women's groups and non-government organizations and agencies throughout the Yukon for ensuring that women's concerns are brought forward.
