GOVERNMENT RELEASES TWO NEW VIOLENCE PREVENTION VIDEOS

Minister responsible for the Women’s Directorate Elaine Taylor and Justice Minister Marian Horne will release the government’s two new violence prevention videos at a press conference and screening scheduled for Thursday, May 29, 2008, 2 p.m. at Alpine Bakery in Whitehorse. 
The violence prevention videos and their manual are the culmination of a three-year long-term public educational public awareness campaign focusing on zero tolerance of violence against women and children. All are welcome.

Yukon Aboriginal Women's Summit 
Join other Aboriginal women in furthering Aboriginal Women’s Equality in the Yukon by attending one or both upcoming summits:
     Watson Lake - Watson Lake Community Hall - November 16 - 17, 2007
     Whitehorse - Yukon Inn - November 22 - 24, 2007
Aboriginal women will discuss and prioritize issues under three themes: Education, Leadership Development and Wellness. Beverly Jacobs, President of the Native Women’s Association of Canada will join us as a guest speaker.  Contact the Women’s Directorate for more information & registration forms. 667-3030 or 1-800-661-0408 ext 3030.  Some travel subsidies are available.
