Yukon Advisory Council on Women's IssuesThe Yukon Advisory Council on Women's Issues was established by the Honourable Margaret Joe in February, 1987 and is administrated within the budget of the Women's Directorate. Currently, the Council provides advice to the Minister Responsible for the Women's Directorate. The composition of the Council provides an opportunity for rural and urban women, aboriginal and non-aboriginal, to provide advice to government on issues of concern to Yukon women. The Yukon Advisory Council on Women's Issues was established by the Yukon Advisory Council on Women's Issues Act, assented to May 14, 1992. The Act states that the council shall:
